Accommodation for the London 2012 Olympics
London is an expensive city and accommodation is no exception. Finding a cheap place to stay in London during the Olympics will be almost impossible as hotels and hostels crank up their prices to capitalise on the event. If you don't a friend's couch to crash on, accommodation will be a moajor expense so do as much research as possible to find the best deal.

The reacation to London winning the Olympics wasn't one of jubilation for everyone in London and it is expected that there will be a mass exodus of locals either fleeing the Olympics chaos, or looking to cash in by renting their accommodation to incoming travellers.
Homeowners aren't the only ones looking to cash on on the Olympics and a variety of homestay websites have already popped up to help visitors and homeowners connect.
Hostels
London is packed with hostel options that are scattered all over the city. They are a far cheaper option to hotels and great places to meet other travellers. The cheapest option is a dorm bed which is great if you're travelling alone and can't afford a room to yourself. Hostels will book up quickly during the Olympic Games, so you'll need to book a London hostel online in advance to make you get the best rooms.
Hotels
London's hotels cater for all budgets, from fleabag to some of the finest (and most expensive) in the world. If you're going with a small group of friends then renting a room at a cheap hotel could work out more economically than each of you paying for a bed in a hostel, so be sure to check your options.
