Olympic Beach Volleyball Overview
Beach volleyball was a demonstration sport at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 and was introduced as an official event in 1996. Places in the Olympic tournament are granted based on the team's performance at the FIVB events in the 18 months leading up to the Games with a maximum of two teams per country.
