2012 Swimming Schedule
Swimming is one of the most popular events at the Olympics and has been present in every modern Games with women's swimming being introduced in 1912. The United States have dominated the swimming event with almost 500 total medals and over 200 golds alone. The next closest is Australia with 168 total medals and 56 golds as of the Beijing Games. Swimmers compete in a variety of strokes in a variety of distances in men's, women's and team events which mean a lot of medals are awarded at each Games.
